Will Solar Trend's Sun Shades stop the glare on my computer and TV screen?

Yes, our Sun Shades are designed to reduce glare by up to 99%. Virtually eliminating our glare problem on computer and TV screens, and still allowing you to see outside clearly.

Does the Sun Shade material really block heat?

Yes! the material as described above is coated with precious metals, providing the Solar Energy Rejection (Sun's heat in the form of infrared, visible, and UV rays). That translates into heating and cooling cost savings. You can save up to 15% of your energy costs. That can add up to huge savings.

Will Sun Shades help reduce the fading of our furnishings and floorings?

Yes. Fading as a rule of thumb, is caused by - 40% UV Light, 25% Visible Light, 25% Heat, 10% misc. Sun Shades reduce 99% of UVA and UVB rays, visible light, and the solar heat generated by the sun. So when the shade is down during daylight hours, it will help protect your furnishings, floorings, artworks etc... Fading will not be eliminated, but your precious things will last much longer.

Will the Sun Shades provide me with Night Time Privacy?

Our specialized Sun Shades are designed for daytime solar control, and because of their design will provide daytime privacy. However, these shades will provide night time privacy when the interior lights are off. When the lights are on they reduce the visibility from outside in at night based on the fact that the shades allow a smaller percentage of light to pass through. And your inside light source is not near as bright as the sun's light during the day. However if you are looking for night time privacy we recommend the 'black-out' shades that are available in a variety.

What colours are the Sun Shades available in?

The Sun Shades are available in 4 main stock colours: Bronze-Silver, Bronze Reflective, Medium Smoke and Reflective Silver.

However we have access to other none stock colours such as: Blue, Green and Gold. These colours are more expensive and take a little longer to order process.

I have existing draperies, how will Sun Shades work with these?

Sun Shades are designed to work with other window treatments. Our shade roller has a rather small design (max. 2.75"h x max. 2.385"d), allowing it to fit into most existing window frames and behind most draperies. In fact when placed between the window and draperies, our Sun Shades will help protect your draperies. Most fabrics breakdown over time because of the sun's powerful heat, and UV rays. But Solar Shades reject up to 80% of Solar Energy and 99% of UV light, making your drapery material last longer.

What is the Sun Shade material?

The Sun Shade Material is made of several layers of clear polyester film better know as Mylar® Film. The inner layers of the polyester film are coated with precious metals to provide the solar heat rejection, UV blocking, and material color etc... These layers are permanently laminated together and will not breakdown or degrade over the life of the product unlike fabrics.

These roller shades are not made of a weave or screen, nor a material that has little holes to allow light to pass through, it is a film material.

Are the Sun Shades installed inside or outside my home?

Inside, Sun Shades are not designed for outside installations.

How do I order your Sun Shades?

All shades are paid in full prior to manufacturing, ordering can be placed in the following matters. E-mail us your order, and we will confirm it, by e-mailing back a complete quote, including taxes and any related shipping costs. You can pay for you shades with Credit Card. For all Provinces in Canada please add HST(13%). Shipping costs will be calculated on a order by order bases. Shipping is provided at the lowest possible rate. If Express service is required, this must be specified at time of order, and a price will be provided accordingly. Basic pricing is provided, but for an exact quotation, please contact us. How do I measure for Sun Shades?

Measuring instructions for Sun Shades that we have provided are rather simple, we require "width & height" of the area where the shade is to be installed. Our FREE measuring instructions provide you with a detailed how-to-guide.

How are the Sun Shades installed?

Installation is made rather simple. Simply install the included steel mounting brackets with the screws provided. The shade unit then securely snaps into the mounting brackets. Installation Instructions are provided with each shade order. An average shade installation takes approximately 10 - 15 minutes.

Does the Sun Shade come with a Valance or Shade Cassette?

Valance or Shade Cassettes are available at addition cost. Shade cassettes can not be added to a shade after manufacture, where as some valance styles can be added after the fact.

How long does it take to receive a Sun Shade order?

Receipt of orders takes approximately one to two weeks, from date of order to delivery to your door via courier service. Keep in mind that all orders are custom made, we do not stock or sell standard sizes.

Does Solar Trends provide installation services for the Sun Shades?

The Sun Shade are sold as a Do It Yourself product, however we have a limited area in which we offer our installation services. Please see our installation site for more information.
